Supplemental Funding Requests Voting (Apr 2023)

On March 7, 2023, the Grants Committee voted to recommend the portolio of requests below to be moved to the Board for approval. Funding totals $245,000 and is to be drawn from the IN22 Matching Grant Program. Voting will close end of business on April 21st or when all votes have been cast, whichever occurs first.

1. CROSSROADS UNITED WAY ($55,000)
Supplemental funding will support community conversations and establish DEI UNITED, providing low barrier capacity-building grants for BIPOC-led organizations.

DEI = Diversity, Equity, Inclusion

2. UNITED WAY OF GIBSON COUNTY ($30,000)
Supplemental funding will support implementation of “Youth Week of Caring” for two years, with the goals of engaging young people with United Way, building a community-wide commitment
to civic engagement, and providing a tangible product with which to attract donors and volunteers.

3. UNITED WAY OF GREATER LAPORTE COUNTY ($50,000)
Supplemental funding will help to increase access to family supports and level 4 PTQ childcare by providing family mentors through the Healthy Families Program.

4. UNITED WAY OF POSEY COUNTY ($55,000)
Supplemental funding will financially support an emergency shelter.  Services will include a needs analysis, security plan, and healing garden.

5. UNITED WAY OF SOUTHWESTERN INDIANA ($55,000)
Supplemental funding will support the development of more intentional relationships with populations disproportionately affected by poverty in order to develop
understanding and provide support for small, grassroots initiatives through equity-minded grantmaking and partnership development.
