Making Tough Choices in Indiana™ invites participants to experience the everyday tradeoffs ALICE® households face and consider how communities can expand opportunity and choice.

Uber, United Way partner to provide free rides to Hoosiers affected by flooding
Free Uber ride vouchers will be distributed to Hoosiers affected by recent severe storms and flooding, thanks to a partnership announced today between Uber, United Way of Central Indiana, and Indiana United Ways. Vouchers will go to residents in Hamilton, Marion, Lake, and Porter counties.


1 in 3 adults in Indiana can be counted as Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed (ALICE®) – meaning that despite working, the household is just one unexpected financial hardship or emergency away from dire straits.  We know that where we are in our lives – and the resources we have at hand – affect our ability to get ahead and stay ahead, to maneuver complex situations.  From providing impact work funding for United Ways to engaging in public policy, we are working to ensure everyone, especially struggling, working families,  has the resources, supports, and opportunities needed to thrive.
